Rotate image

Turn images 90° clockwise or counterclockwise, upside down (180°), or by any angle like 2.5° to straighten a tilted horizon. Rotate many images at once and download them as a ZIP. Free, no watermark, and your files never leave your browser.

No images yet. You can also drop files on this box.

Rotate and flip

Output

Changes apply to every image instantly. Right angles and flips never add corners or lose pixels.

Why is my photo sideways?

Phones store photos in the sensor's orientation and add an EXIF "Orientation" tag that tells viewers how to turn them. Some apps, websites and older Windows viewers ignore the tag, so the picture shows up sideways. This tool applies the tag first (the preview shows the image the way your phone did), then your rotation, and saves real pixels in the new orientation with the tag removed, so it looks the same everywhere.

How it works

Each image is decoded by your browser and redrawn on a canvas, turned and mirrored. A 90° or 270° rotation swaps width and height; 180° and flips keep the size. For any other angle the canvas grows to fit the turned image, and the empty corners are filled with your color, left transparent, or cropped off so only the image remains (the largest upright rectangle that fits inside it). Nothing is uploaded, so it works for private photos and even offline once the page has loaded. EXIF metadata (camera, GPS location) is removed.

Need a different size or shape too? Use flip image, crop image or resize image.

Screenshots that come out the right way up

Rotating website screenshots to portrait by hand? The Shotmint API renders any URL in Chromium at the viewport you ask for, so a phone-shaped capture is one parameter away:

curl "https://shotmint.creasework.com/v1/screenshot?url=https://example.com&width=390&height=844&device_scale_factor=2" -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_KEY" -o phone.png

Each screenshot is 1 credit. €5 buys 2,000 with no subscription, and credits never expire.

FAQ

Are my images uploaded? No. Everything runs in JavaScript on this page.

Does rotating lose quality? PNG output is lossless. JPG and WebP are re-encoded, so pick Maximum quality if you rotate the same file many times. Right-angle turns move pixels exactly; other angles resample, which softens fine detail very slightly.

Which way is clockwise? A positive angle turns the image clockwise (Right 90° = 90). Negative numbers turn it counterclockwise.

Is there a limit? No file count limit and no watermark. Output sides are capped at 16,384 pixels. Animated GIF and WebP files are rotated as their first frame.
