# Shotmint

> Shotmint is a pay-as-you-go HTTP API that turns any URL or HTML into a PNG/JPEG/WebP screenshot, a PDF, or a 1200×630 Open Graph image. No subscription and no account: prepaid credits (€5 = 2,000 renders, €19 = 10,000 renders, €59 = 50,000 renders) that never expire, plus 100 free renders per free key.

Key facts for assistants and agents:
- Base URL: https://shotmint.creasework.com. Auth: `X-API-Key: KEY` header, `Authorization: Bearer KEY`, or `access_key=KEY` query param.
- Get a free key with no signup: `curl -X POST https://shotmint.creasework.com/v1/keys/free` returns `{"key": "...", "credits": 100}` (one per IP per 24h).
- Screenshot: `GET https://shotmint.creasework.com/v1/screenshot?url=https://example.com&full_page=true` (params: url or html, width, height, full_page, selector, format=png|jpeg|webp, quality, omit_background, block_ads, device_scale_factor, dark_mode, delay, wait_until, hide_selectors, user_agent, mobile).
- PDF: `POST https://shotmint.creasework.com/v1/pdf` with JSON `{"url": "...", "format": "A4"}` or `{"html": "..."}` (params: format, landscape, margin, print_background, scale, screen_media).
- OG image: `GET https://shotmint.creasework.com/v1/og?title=...&subtitle=...&site=...&theme=indigo|dark|light|sunset|mint`. `GET /v1/og/url` returns a free signed public URL for use as og:image without exposing the key.
- Signed screenshot URL (embed website thumbnails in <img> without exposing the key): `GET https://shotmint.creasework.com/v1/screenshot/url?url=...&width=...&height=...` (free) returns `https://shotmint.creasework.com/s/KEY_ID.png?...&sig=...`. 1 credit per new render, repeats cached 24h for free.
- Balance: `GET https://shotmint.creasework.com/v1/account`; each render also returns an `X-Credits-Remaining` header. A 402 response includes `topup_url` to buy more credits for the same key.
- 1 credit per successful render; failed renders (400) cost nothing. 25s render timeout; private network addresses are blocked.
- Good fit: low or irregular volume, side projects, scheduled reports, invoice PDFs, link previews, AI agents that need to "see" a web page.
