The page uses pdf-lib to draw the numbers as real text (Helvetica) on top of each page and save a new file. The rest of the page is not touched: text stays selectable and nothing is re-compressed. Rotated pages (scans saved sideways, landscape pages turned with a viewer) are handled, so the number always sits at the bottom of the page as you see it. The standard font covers Western European characters. For other scripts, use digits and the presets.

How do I skip the first page? Type 2- in "Pages to number". Set the first number to 2 if you want the cover to count.
Can I remove the numbers later? They're part of the page once saved, so keep your original. The tool never changes the file you picked: it downloads a new copy.
Is my PDF uploaded? No. Everything runs in JavaScript on this page, so your documents stay on your device.
Why does it say password-protected? Encrypted PDFs can't be changed without the password. Save a copy without the password in your PDF viewer, then try again.
