Looking for a Browshot alternative? Here's an honest comparison. Browshot is a long-running service (since 2011) and, like Shotmint, it sells prepaid credits instead of a subscription. The differences are price per render, payment method and what one credit buys.
| Model | Price | Free tier | Unused volume | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Browshot | Prepaid credits via PayPal (monthly plans on request) | $10 for 1,000 · $25 for 3,000 · $50 for 8,000 · $100 for 20,000 · $200 for 45,000 · $500 for 125,000 · $1,000 for 300,000 (desktop = 1 credit, mobile = 2) | 100 screenshots/month on shared free browsers (fewer devices and resolutions) | Expiry not stated on their pricing page |
| Shotmint | Prepaid credits, no subscription | €5 / 2,000 · €19 / 10,000 · €59 / 50,000 (one-time) | 100 free renders, no signup | Never expire |

Browshot has been running since 2011 and offers over 30 virtual devices (iPhone, iPad, Android and desktop), screenshots from IP addresses in Germany, the UK, the USA and Australia, automatic upload to your S3 bucket, any number of thumbnails of one screenshot at no extra cost, logged-in captures with site credentials, ad monitoring, and private browsers or servers for very high volume. It does not charge for failed screenshots, and at very large volume ($1,000 for 300,000 credits) its unit price is low. If you need country-specific IPs, S3 delivery or a specific device, it is a strong choice.
You want a lower price at small and medium volume, card payment, or PDFs. 2,000 renders cost €5 on Shotmint and about $20 on Browshot; 10,000 cost €19 on Shotmint and $75 or more on Browshot (its $25 and $50 packs together give 11,000), and mobile screenshots cost Browshot 2 credits each while every Shotmint render costs 1. Shotmint credits never expire and are paid by card through Stripe. One request to GET /v1/screenshot returns the image directly, the same credits cover URL-to-PDF and HTML-to-PDF and 1200×630 Open Graph cards, and you get WebP output, transparent backgrounds and single-element selector captures. A free key with 100 renders takes one request, with no signup. If you need S3 upload, country IPs or a long track record, Browshot covers that and we do not yet.
GET /v1/screenshot: PNG, JPEG or WebP screenshots of any URL, with full-page capture, custom viewport, retina scale, a single-element selector, dark mode, transparent backgrounds (omit_background), ad and cookie-banner blocking (block_ads), and hide_selectors.POST /v1/pdf: PDFs from a URL or raw HTML, with format, landscape, margins, and backgrounds.GET /v1/og: 1200×630 Open Graph cards from a title and subtitle, with signed public URLs you can put straight in an og:image tag.X-Credits-Remaining header.Shotmint is a new, small service. It doesn't have SDKs, integrations, or enterprise plans yet. If you need those, Browshot may suit you better. If you want an API key in 10 seconds and to pay only for what you use, try it.
No signup, no card. If you need more, buy credits once: €5 for 2,000, €19 for 10,000, €59 for 50,000. They never expire.
