Links without an og:image get a small grey preview or none at all, and they get fewer clicks. Make one in seconds with the free OG image generator. For a card per page (blog posts, docs, products), use a signed Shotmint URL straight in your og:image tag. The image is rendered on first request and cached, so there's no build step:

<meta property="og:image" content="https://shotmint.creasework.com/og/YOUR_KEY_ID.png?title=My+post&site=acme.example&sig=…">

Every new card is 1 credit. €5 buys 2,000 with no subscription, and credits never expire. Get 100 free renders

What each tag does

<title> is the clickable headline in Google and the browser tab. Aim for 30 to 60 characters; Google cuts longer titles at about 600px.

meta description is often used as the snippet under the title. Aim for 70 to 160 characters. Google may rewrite it, but a good one improves clicks.

canonical tells search engines the preferred URL when the same page is reachable at several addresses (tracking parameters, trailing slashes, http/https).

og:* (Open Graph) tags control the preview card on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp and iMessage. og:image should be an absolute URL, ideally 1200×630.

twitter:card set to summary_large_image shows a big image on X. X falls back to the og: tags for title, description and image, so you don't need to repeat them.

FAQ

Do meta keywords still matter? No. Google has ignored meta keywords since 2009, so this generator leaves them out.

I changed my tags but the old preview still shows. Platforms cache previews. Check what your live page serves with the Open Graph checker, then re-share or use the platform's post inspector.

Is my data sent anywhere? No. This page builds the tags in your browser. The share-image preview loads the image URL you enter directly from its host.
